Inspired by a supermarket encounter with a woman loading up on processed foods, Kathleen Flinn decided to use her culinary training to help nine novice cooks find their cooking confidence. The Kitchen Counter Cooking School takes these lessons and provides practical, healthy tips to boost your culinary self-confidence, and strategies to get the most from your grocery dollars, as well as simple recipes to get you cooking.

I got an ARC copy of this book at ALA in New Orleans this year. I absolutely love it! I wish I had it 30 years ago. I can’t wait for my daughter, in Grad School, to read it. It is just what she needs right now. thank you sooo much for writing it, I can’t wait to try more recipes (yes I’ve tried many already)

  2. Good places to eat, I’ve got plenty. As for lodging, not so much. Seeing how I live here, I don’t spend much time in Toronto hotels. http://www.toronto.com if you want to browse around. I’d volunteer to be your guide if it wasn’t a little … creepy!

My partner got a galley of this book since he’s a bookseller and I’ve got to say that these quotes are not over the top, but TRUE. This book really changed how we both think about shopping and eating. It has a cute cover, but the subject is qutie serious. I liked the first book, but this one made it clear that you’re not just a food writer but a food journalist.
