For those who missed it, Westword restaurant critic Jason Sheehan wrote a series of insightful, sometimes scathing and invariably funny posts about the IACP conference. Maggie, Lisa and I hung out with him a lot. In fact, when restaurant owner Jesse Moreales couldn’t get hold of Gourmet contributor editor Barry Estabrook, I think that he ended up settling for us…
By the way, Jason writes about handing out galleys of his book, Cooking Dirty: A Story of Life, Sex, Love and Death in the Kitchen (MacMillian). I was one of the lucky ones who got a copy. It’s like a nice healthy dose of Jason, replete with attitude and the occasional dose of savage humor from a guy who can truly write. And drink. But that’s another story…
Here are links to Jason’s coverage in all its glory. In a disclosure moment, I should note that I’m name checked somewhere:

Our intrepid reporter learns that food writers go out to eat when they arrive in town. - Food Writers Are Good in Bed
Or, how he was mortified at the food writers forum (that I helped organize) though he quite liked Virginia Willis… - What do Several Hundred Wet Food Writers Smell Like?

A local restaurateur hunts down Barry Estabrook of Gourmet… and winds up with us. - Chocolate Threesome

My favorite part? That Barry Estabrook comments on the story mentioning him, stating that he was “probably in the hotel bar.” Ha!
