Mike had been out to Pompeii, and we briefly discussed that option. But then we realized that with three massive cruise ships at the dock, there would be nothing but a sea of cruisers delivered to the ruins by bus. Instead, we grabbed a hydrofoil over to the island of Capri and took a cable car up to the top to get away from the tourists by the water. We wandered up to Restaurant Gemma for a lunch of grilled mozzarella, deeply flavored seafood pasta and Neapolitan pizza. As we gazed out over the azure waters in the bright sun drinking wine, all I could think was that at my heart, I’m just a little girl from a small town in Michigan who somehow ended up here, sipping an Italian white with this great guy who loves me. I’m not quite sure how I got so lucky.
Lunch on Capri
The ship hit Naples as the last port of call. With all the classes and demos finished, we had the entire day free.
